Event Overview
The ASA Calcutta Luncheon — proudly sponsored by Gallagher, is back for 2026. Join us as we bring the steel industry together for one of the biggest and most anticipated events on the ASA calendar.
Connect with members, customers and industry colleagues for an afternoon of great food, plenty of laughs, racing action and great networking.
This year we’re excited to welcome one of Australia’s most popular comedians, Tom Gleeson, to the Calcutta stage. Known for his razor-sharp wit, Tom is guaranteed to bring plenty of laughs to the afternoon.
There’s also the action of our annual Melbourne Cup Calcutta auction, giving you the chance to bid on the Cup favourites ahead of the race that stops the nation – with more special guests still to be announced.

Keynote Speaker
Members will hear from one of Australian racing’s most accomplished jockeys, Craig Williams. The only rider to complete racing’s coveted “Golden Slam” – winning the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup, Golden Slipper and The Everest – Craig will share insights from a remarkable three-decade career at the highest level of the sport, along with the experiences that have shaped him both on and off the track.

Craig Williams
Champion Jockey. Ambassador. Humanitarian.
From a quintessential racing family in Melbourne’s south east, Craig has established himself across a career now spanning three decades as Melbourne’s leading rider, collecting six Scobie Breasley Medals and 10 Roy Higgins Medals. On a national scale, he is the only rider to win the “Golden Slam” – Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup, Golden Slipper and The Everest. In 2019, he enjoyed success on the First Tuesday in November aboard Vow and Declare for trainer Danny O’Brien. He has also triumphed abroad with Group 1 victories across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Off the track, Craig and his wife Larysa, a Ukrainian native, have made several trips to the war-torn region in recent years, providing much needed aid and support to civilians in the affected territory. Their journeys have helped shed further light on the plight of those at risk.
Comedian

Tom Gleeson
Comedian
Tom Gleeson is one of Australia’s most accomplished comedians and a gold Logie-winning television powerhouse. A master of high-status comedy who somehow remains beloved by audiences nationwide, Tom has conquered every stage from rowdy RSLs to the Sydney Opera House – there isn’t a corner of this country he hasn’t performed in, and performed brilliantly. His razor-sharp hosting earned him the industry’s ultimate prize – the Gold Logie – which sits alongside his 7 AACTAs on a very crowded trophy shelf.
MC

Nigel Carmody
Host, Racing.com
Nigel’s affinity with and love of horse racing has seen him take on hosting duties for Seven’s Racing coverage and with the sport’s dedicated channel, Racing.com. Front and centre for major race meetings at iconic tracks including Flemington, Caulfield and The Valley, he has driven the conversation as a host on programs such as The Wrap, Spring Contenders and After The Last.
