About Us

Your Independent Voice In Steel

Supporting Member Nationally

The Australian Steel Association (ASA) champions the need for an open market and even playing field for all manufacturing users and converters of steel products. It is our view that fair trade and a competitive market are essential for the steel industry to thrive.

As an independent association, we engage with regulators to provide guidance and feedback on issues including anti-dumping, steel standards and government policy. This ensures our members have a seat at the table and their voices are heard in the local market dominated by two big players. We also bring members together to connect and learn with many events and networking opportunities.

Our members reflect the wide array of companies operating in the steel industry today. ASA members include steel manufacturers, fabricators, roll-formers, roof fixers, traders, transport and shipping companies and trade credit insurance providers.

Grant Johnston

CEO, BestBar

Being a member of the ASA gives us access to other member companies that are experiencing similar challenges in the industry, which gives us insight to industry trends and helps us understand issues that can affect our business. We have found the ASA to be a great help in supporting us with relevant information on many issues including dumping, wharf constraints and statistics that help us in our decision making on a day-to-day basis.

Joe Calleja

Managing Director, Apex Steel

Having been a member from the very early days, I’ve benefited from over 35 years of networking with the ASA. The world is a very small place these days. It’s good to be in the know and the ASA’s big events attract the who’s who from across the industry. The Association has a relaxed and informal feel, which is a great atmosphere to network and do business in.
