Past Event Overview
We invited ASA members to an exclusive online roundtable session featuring Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Special Minister of State, Minister for Trade and Tourism, and Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate.
This session provided a rare opportunity for ASA members to speak directly with the Minister. Members get to ask their burning questions on tariffs, trade policy, and future negotiations.
Senator Farrell discussed the impact of the Trump administration’s steel and aluminium tariffs, emphasising that “discussion is the best way to resolve these issues” and that Australia is working to “make an offer [Donald Trump] can’t refuse.” You will gain clarity on Canberra’s response, including ongoing talks with U.S. officials such as Commerce Secretary Lutnick and U.S. Trade Representative Greer.
- Senator Farrell will outline Australia’s position on the 25% steel and aluminium tariffs, critical‐minerals offer, and next steps.
- Open floor for ASA participants to pose questions directly to the Minister.
This invitation-only session offered a unique and timely platform for ASA members to gain unfiltered insights directly from the Minister, as Australia navigates a complex trade environment—especially in light of recent global developments.
