The ASA’s flagship event, the Calcutta Luncheon – proudly sponsored by Ligentia – was held last November 3 and was a huge success!
This event was indeed the perfect way to bring your team and customers together for a great day focused on networking and relaxed entertainment. There was plenty of action as well-known sports commentator and racing expert Nigel Carmody was the event MC, Damien Oliver as Keynote Speaker, and Brent Zerafa, Clint Hutchison, and Grace Ramage as panellists for our Exclusive Melbourne Cup. Attendees had the chance to bid on the favourites for this year’s Melbourne Cup.

Damien Oliver
Jockey
Damien Oliver is amongst Australia’s greatest-ever jockeys and is a member of an exclusive club that has ridden the “Grand Slam” of Australian racing. Oliver has won the Melbourne Cup three times, the Cox Plate twice, the Caulfield Cup four times, and had a Golden Slipper win too. He is a 14-time Scobie Breasley Medal winner and was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 2008.

Nigel’s affinity with and love of horse racing has seen him take on hosting duties for Seven’s Racing coverage and with the sport’s dedicated channel, Racing.com. Front and centre for major race meetings at iconic tracks including Flemington, Caulfield and The Valley, he has driven the conversation as a host on programs such as The Wrap, Spring Contenders and After The Last.

Nic has built a strong reputation in the industry as a times analyst that finds winners at big prices. Nic features on Three Wide No Cover alongside Simon Marshall & Grace Ramage.
Clint Hutchison
Racing.com / Hutchi’s Honkers / Triple Trio Podcast
Clint Hutchison is a racing broadcaster and tipster who is popular amongst fans and colleagues alike. He is currently one of the panellists on Racing.com’s flagship show Get On, where he provides his unique insights and free racing tips. “Hutchi” was raised in Hong Kong by his father Bruce Hutchison, a former HKJC licensed trainer.
Brent Zerafa
Racing.com
Brent Zerafa is a presenter, journalist and tipster with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the racing industry. He is currently part of the Racing.com team, where he features on the popular show Get On as well as co-hosting the Sectional Stars program alongside Nic Ashman. His unique insights and racing tips are sought after by punters all around Australia.
Grace Ramage
Lindsay Park Racing / Ladies Who Punt Podcast / Three Wide No Cover
Grace Ramage is a horse racing journalist and presenter who works for Racing.com, and has quickly established herself as one of the best young journos in the industry. Her work includes hosting Melbourne’s metropolitan meets, heading some of the network’s more popular programs and writing articles for the Racing.com website.

Over 150 Members and guests joined us at Calcutta Luncheon. Highlights from the day included an insightful, and often hilarious, panel session with some of Australia’s leading jockeys and trainers. This unique session provided a peek behind the scenes of the race that stops a nation and gave the audience a real insight into what it’s like to ride, train and own some of the top horses we all know and love.
